Can I hike from Sengen Shrine up to the Mt. Fuji 5th station in mid March?

by Nicolas Wenger

I'd like to hike up half of Mt. Fuji while I'm there in mid-March.

Would I be able to leave from Sengen Shrine, and hike only to the Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station, where I would either hike back down or take the shuttle down?

Don't know for sure
by: Gary Wolff

Not sure about that, Nicolas.

According to the Yoshidaguchi pilgrim route hiking info pdf linked from this section of my Climbing Mt. Fuji FAQ page,
https://www.garyjwolff.com/climbing-mt-fuji.html#39 (click on the image), it states that the trail is open from June to November, but you might want to call (or skype) Fujiyoshida City's International Affairs Desk (8:30-5:30, Mon.-Fri.) @ +81-555-24-1236 (from overseas) to confirm this.

Also, it's my understanding that the bus from Kawaguchiko Station & Fujisan Station to the Fuji Subaru 5th Station starts running (5 times daily) in mid-March. The off-season bus schedule is here: http://www.japan-guide.com/bus/fuji.html

Have a great trip...
