Climbing Fuji last weekend of September

Hi Gary,

First, many thanks for the great resource in your website!

My question is sort of similar to some others, but slightly different which is the reason why I dare ask...

We (3 guys, good conditions including a trained walker) want to climb Fuji last weekend of Sept. if weather conditions are ok. First question: is that legal?

Under the scenario, weather conditions are fine (not typhoon nor big rains/wind etc...), is it a reasonnably hard climb or is it a climb for very experienced climber?

At last, if both answer above are Yes, what route would you recommend?

Many thanks,
Francois

Watch out for Mt. Fuji's first fall crown of snow
by: Gary Wolff

Thx, Francois!

Supposedly, new regulations which require the submission of a climbing plan have been drawn up for off-season climbing, but I'm not sure whether they've gone into effect yet.

I recommend the Yoshida Trail, which is not that difficult for experienced climbers, but one problem is that most huts will be closed by 9/23: https://www.garyjwolff.com/mt-fuji-mountain-huts.html

Also, Mt. Fuji's first fall crown of snow, known in Japanese as "hatsukansetsu," usually occurs around the beginning of Oct., but sometimes a little earlier.

Have a nice climb!
