Crocodile Burgers !

by Shiomi
(Tokyo )

When I was in the 5th grade, I heard a surprising thing about New Zealand. What do you think it was? I had been a student at an English conversation school where the teacher was from New Zealand.

And she always taught me about her country, like the beautiful scenery, many kinds of animals, and the local foods.

Especially, the thing I was surprised about was...

"The Crocodile Hamburger"

"...Really?!"

I asked her to repeat, and she answered again like this: "There is a crocodile hamburger. Its taste is great and I want you to eat it!"

I heard that a crocodile's meat is a little tough, and I think so. If I ever have an opportunity to visit New Zealand, I will try it.

...maybe.

Crocodile Burgers

That story is false. There are no crocodiles and they certainly do not eat them! I think you might be thinking of Australia, although both countries are mistaken often!

Thank you for your comments!
by: Shiomi.T

Dear Crystal,

I was surprised at your comments, and I have read yours with great pleasure! I unexpected that there are comments which came from overseas.
Thank you for your indication. I understand there is no Crocodile Burgers in New Zealand, but in Australia.
That story was maybe misinformed...because you are people in New Zealand!(^^;) But if Crocodile Burgers is not a food of New Zealand, did my teacher who taught me English tell a joke...?(;-;)

Dear Nz_dude,

Thank you for your contribution! I am glad to your kindness.
If I have a chance to visit your country, I will try "hangi"(^^). I cannot imagine its taste, but I'm sure that it is good! :D
I understand that Crocodile Burgers is not a food of New Zealand, also former's comments.
In addition,I was amazed to see the comments.
"Two people who are from New Zealand did write for this article!"

Finally....

This program gave me a chance to contact with foreigners, and I was able to feel a different culture through an Internet! I am really surprised.
Then, I am sorry for not writing sooner.
I'm looking forward to next comments! :D
Thank you, Mr. Gary!

an alternative?
by: Nz_dude

Hi there, I'm also a student from New Zealand.

Just letting you know that crocodile hamburgers aren't a New Zealand food, although, if you ever get the chance, try a "hangi".

A hangi is New Zealands traditional meal. I really like hangi because you cook it underground using extremely hot stones to cook the food.

You really must try it :D

Misinformed?
by: Crystal

Hi, I'm a student from New Zealand and I think you've been misinformed.
Crocodiles don't exist in New Zealand and aren't eaten over here, sorry!
Australia, is where crocodiles do live and are eaten and have the famous "Crocodile Burger".
Just thought I would comment to say this!

I want to try one, too !
by: Gary Wolff

Shiomi-san, what an interesting story ! That's the first time I ever heard of crocodile burgers, but in Texas we eat buffalo burgers.

So why not? I think I'd like to try a crocodile burger, too. Thanks for sharing that funny experience...

Gary
