Fast Food

by Wiebke (Wiwi)

In my home country, one of the first things that come to mind when you hear about America is fast food. Most of the food we now link to America are originated from other countries, but the Americans perfected their rapid preparation.

There are several large chains of well-known fast food restaurants based in America and many of them distributed throughout the world through so-called franchises. I think the most famous fast food is hamburger with french fries, and in some of these chains it is possible to get the same hamburger with the same taste nearly in each store no matter where it is located.

Even when you are far away from home there is the chance to eat something you are used to. One remarkable additional information: One of these Hamburgers the ‘Bic Mac’ from ‘McDonalds’ is used for a value called the ‘Big Mac Index’, a way of measuring the purchasing power parity of currencies.

My conclusion is that on one hand, fast food is an easy way for fast dining and of course it is delicious, but on the other hand fast food is seldom healthy.
