The world's most famous clown

The world's most famous clown

Do you know him? I think that you know, because he is the world famous mascot for McDonald's. To tell the truth, I didn't like him as a child. His red hair, red nose, oversized shoes, etc. were ominous for me.

However, now I use McDonald's when eating lunch, taking a rest, or chatting with my friends. Lately, McDonald's sends e-mail (it has coupons) for us, and we use McDonald's more and more.

According to the Marietta Times (May 20, 2010), Ronald McDonald is now receiving complaints from the Corporate Accountability International (CAI). In the article, Ronald, who is the best known clown as the McDonald corporation mascot, should be retired, said the CAI. CAI claimed that he promotes unhealthy eating. And CAI got 10,000 supporters who agree with its campaign.

But opinions are divided into groups on this issue. Some say that it's convenient to use McDonald's because people can stop at the restaurant anytime and anywhere, even when people don't have much money.

But others say that this situation is silly because Ronald McDonald is just a character. Besides, McDonald's CEO (chief executive officer) Jim Skinner, will not let him retire. He said that Ronald won't be going anywhere.

Mmm....I suppose that we eat their burgers on our own free will, so Ronald doesn't make us eat them. I agree with Jim's opinion.
