I'm thinking over Northern Ireland’s dispute

by Yuki I.
(Chiba, Japan)

Do you know the Northern Ireland’s dispute? I cared about this problem. When I went to Cambodia 2 years ago, I saw children who were alone. Because they lost both their parents in the domestic dispute, they have lived in an orphanage.

In Northern Ireland, I think that the religious problem is one of the causes of the dispute. Now, people who live in Northern Ireland are separated into two groups, Catholics and Protestants. I heard that according to rough estimates, in the north part of the country, many people are Protestants and in the south part of the country, many people are Catholic.

Although both of them are Christians, the two groups stood in deep opposition which seems to be different religions.

But we may not catch that Northern Ireland’s problem is a religious problem. In fact, some causes, for example religion, history, & politics are involved in Northern Ireland’s problem.

I think it is OK that different people have different values. I only hope value differences don’t give rise to dispute. I think everybody hopes for a peace of mind.
