Is calling the Mt. Fuji huts the only way to place a reservation?

Thank you for posting so much useful information. My girlfriend and I are planning to hike Mt. Fuji in August - ​​are calling the huts the only way to place a reservation?

Some hut websites have online reservations (in Japanese). Otherwise, you'll need to just call (or skype) the huts (or their office numbers) directly. Here's a list of huts & phone numbers on the main Yoshida Trail: Mt. Fuji Mountain Huts

Of course, if you book a guided tour, they'll handle the hut reservations.
