Is it ok to take a 2-day hike and watch the sunrise from the top?

by Francis
(Canada)

Hi,

We are going to be in Tokyo from September 7th until the 14th. Do you believe it would be ok to take a two day hike and watch the sunrise from the top? Do you believe we should wait on booking our hotels and check the weather before leaving to make sure we have two clear days?

Thanks a lot: great website!

Francis

Here are some sample 2-day & 3-day Mt. Fuji climbing plans
by: Gary Wolff

Hi Francis,

Thx for your nice comments. I assume you are referring to Mt. Fuji? :-)

Yes, a 2-day plan sounds good. Here are some sample 2-day & 3-day Mt. Fuji climbing plans:

Yes, if I were you, I'd definitely check the Mt. Fuji weather forecast before you commit to the hike. There's nothing more miserable & dangerous than rain, gale-force winds, & lightning on an unprotected peak like Fuji-san. And watch out for typhoons which blast thru Japan in Sept.

Here is the Mt. Fuji summit weather forecast: http://www.mountain-forecast.com/peaks/Fuji-san/forecasts/3776

Best wishes!

Gary
