Rocky's Steps

Rocky's Steps

When I was a baby, I was in Philadelphia for two years.

I went there last summer to see the place where I lived. Philadelphia was the first capital city of America, and the United States Declaration of Independence was signed there. The bell above is the Liberty Bell, which was rung when America got its independence. It is not only a symbol of the independence, but also the symbol of those who fought to get the liberty, for example women, African Americans, and Native Americans.

Philadelphia is also known as Rocky's city. The picture above is of Rocky's steps, which Rocky ran up, and another one is Rocky's statue. If you have watched the movie, you know this town has poverty and crimes. When I went there, I saw a lot of ruins. After I moved over one block, I saw rich buildings. This situation ironically expresses what country America is.

Philadelphia is also a cultural city. The Philadelphia Museum of Art, which is behind Rocky's steps, is one of the biggest museums of art in America. It has a lot of arts, for example Van Gogh's "Sunflower."
