Pilgrimage to Mecca

Mecca, Saudi Arabia

Mecca, Saudi Arabia

Mecca is a city in Saudi Arabia and especially famous for Muslims in the world. Competent Muslims, both in economics and health, must go to Mecca at least once in their lifetime. This trip is called a pilgrimage, a journey to a sacred place for a religious reason. The pilgrimage to Mecca is held annually.

I know this city because 80% of Indonesian people are Muslims. Most of my friends' parents have gone to Mecca for religious reasons. Most of them save money and go to Mecca once they already retire and have enough money. Usually people who go to Mecca are retired people, whose kids are already grown up, and they don't have any burdens anymore. But if they are rich, they certainly can go even when they are still young.

If you want to visit Mecca but you are not Muslim, maybe you should think twice because non-Muslims are not allowed to enter this sacred place.
