The US in my eyes

by Hong Jiaming
(Chofu)

To be honest, I am not sure about whether the impression in my mind is real or distorted.

My impression about the US comes from classes and news. Movies often don't reflect the real life, I know it.

In the classes, from the textbook, we know that the US is a young and powerful country; from the teachers, we know that America is a country of dreams, freedom, and opportunity, and many developments in science began in the US. As it comes to freedom, the right to own guns is just unthinkable to most of my classmates, including me.

The news shows the important place of the US in the commercial field. Gates, Jobs, Buffett, and many large companies always grasp people's eyeballs. But the news also gave me the impression that the US is always involved with wars, because the US played an important role in recent several wars. Of course it is controversial. This matches the impression formed in the classes that it is powerful.

Above all, my views about the US is that it is a powerful and highly developed country with dreams, freedom, and opportunity.
