What's the temperature like in October on the peak of Mt. Jonen-dake??

Hello!

I love reading your website, but i have a question - what is the temperature like in October on the peak of Jonen? I'm planning on camping outside, so I'd like to know what kind of sleeping bag i'll need to invest in!

I’m not aware of any temperature data for Mt. Jonen-dake, but for reference purposes, the average low temperature in October for the nearby (much lower) city of Matsumoto is 8.4°C: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matsumoto,_Nagano#Climate

Anywhere in Japan’s alpine country, October is when the temperatures begin to drop precipitously and when snowfalls begin to be expected, so when you consider that the average *HIGH* temperature atop Mt. Fuji is already below freezing (https://www.garyjwolff.com/climbing-mt-fuji.html#9), I think you can reasonably expect it to be fairly cold atop Mt. Jonen-dake in October.

Also, as you may have already discovered, linked from the bottom of my Mt. Jonen-dake page, mountain-forecast.com offers a 6-day forecast for the summit of Mt. Jonen-dake.
